It cannot have escaped you that many measures have been taken worldwide to stop or slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus (corona virus). Some countries are completely closed to residents and visitors from abroad. We are also concerned about the magnitude of this pandemic. Therefore we are very busy helping to fight this terrible virus. We do this in a special way, something that everyone can help with.
Folding@Home uses Distributed Computing to perform certain complex calculations that should help to combat diseases and conditions that have a great impact on the world. It has already helped fight or prevent various diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Malaria, HIV and Diabetes. Bundling computer resources allows for extremely large or complex calculations. Recently, the platform has become the most powerful supercomputer in the world. It has a capacity of more than one exaflops. That means that more than 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 calculations can be performed per second. It is even 10x faster than the fastest and most powerful supercomputer in the world, the IBM Summit.
We at Proxeuse have also made computing power available for this project. Both on our servers and on the personal computers of our employees. It is wonderful to see that a global community of millions of volunteers want to help fight the global crisis by providing computing power. Computing power they probably don’t need.
You too can provide computing power to contain the coronavirus. There are many manuals available on the Internet to use your computer for this global network. You do not have to worry that your computer is no longer usable, it is adjustable how much Folding@Home may use.
